Intro

Let's set you up it should take 25 minutes (depends on your machine and internet πŸ˜‰).

Getting Started

Get started by creating a GitHub Account β†— first.

If you have it setup already, AWESOME🀩.

What you'll need (tools and tech)

  • VSCode Everyone's favourite code editor ?

  • Git Because there's no better tool for collaborating on code

For Windows folks make sure you keep the defaults in the installation wizard. You would specifically need the Git Bash

Checks before launch

Check Git

git --version

If this returns version numbers, Houston is ready for launch !

For Nerds

If you are already familiar with all of these tools, Great! Feel free to use any other tools that enhance your Dev Experience on top of these tools for example - Gitlens (a better Git flow right in VS Code), nvm (manage multiple Node Versions) etc. You can go ahead and use different package managers or runtimes of your choice if you already are experienced like - Yarn, pnpm, Deno, Bun

For terminal or Command Line enthusiasts - you can explore Lazygit

All of these are optional and not needed for you to excel in Pre-KDU or KDU by any means.

tip

Add VSCode to your shell path for easy access to the editor right away from the command line. Go to the command palette in VSCode and choose Install 'code' command in PATH
